The Blue Zones Blueprint: Longevity, Purpose, and Living Well with Dan Buettner

On this episode of the Harvest Series, host Rose Claverie sits down with explorer and Blue Zones creator Dan Buettner to explore what really helps people live longer, healthier lives. After decades studying the world’s longest-living populations, Dan argues that longevity is less about supplements, discipline, or biohacking and more about environment, social connection, movement, purpose, and community.

The conversation explores modern society, processed food, loneliness, urban design, capitalism, faith, friendship, happiness, and aging. Dan explains why healthy environments shape healthy behavior more effectively than willpower ever can and why governments and cities play a major role in public health outcomes. The episode also examines purpose, family, meaningful relationships, and how modern life quietly disconnects humans from the conditions they evolved for.

Dan also reflects on parenting, legacy, curiosity, and his future work redesigning cities around Blue Zone principles. This is a conversation about longevity, but also about creating lives that feel more connected, meaningful, and human.
